Tackling Paint Prep

It's time for Tackle It Tuesday with 5 Minutes for Mom .

Next week, we are painting our living room which is a very daunting task. The ceilings are high, there are lots of cracks and holes that need to be patched and I am doing a faux-finish on the largest wall. So, we spent this weekend preparing for the job. Here is what we accomplished:

We cleaned off these shelves:

We cleaned some more to reveal that big giant wall:

We cleaned off the mantel:

We cleaned off the walls with the blinds:

Once we cleaned everything out, we had a a blank canvas and we could design. Here is the palatte that will be our living room:

I am so excited! I can't wait to post the finished room!!

We have high ceilings as well (same kind of blinds too!) and it was something else to paint! :-)

We have high ceilings too...our living room is vaulted so I'm guessing they are probably about 20' tall. My dad & brother came over and painted them for me. I'm not a painter...way too impatient! I can't wait to see how it turns out. Love the colors.

Very nice!! I am often so envious of the way other people manage to design their house.

It's gonna look grand, I know! Don'tcha just LOVE the feeling of a "new" room when you're all finished? Of course, getting there might be a chore...

This is a great project, and you seem to have a real handle on things. After you are done, you'll be so happy you did it--even if it was a huge job.

Thanks for your sweet comments on my blog.
