Spring Cleaning Reward

Simple Mom's Project Simplify is our choice week. When you are done with all the hard work of cleaning and organizing your house, don't forget to reward yourself. We bought overselves this: And of course, we needed a new entertainment center and that needed to be organized too so, it totally counts for this link up too:-)

Ultimate Blog Party 2011

Ultimate Blog Party 2011

That's right!!! Today is 5 Minutes for Mom's Ultimate Blog Party!! Susan and Janice are those beautiful twin bloggers who have brought you many, many great carnivals. My favorites are:

1. Tackle It Tuesday (click here to see some of my tackles) 2. Wordless Wednesday (click here to see some of my pictures) You can find me under these labels every week. I have found so many new sites to follow and who follow me and I just love my 5M4M! For those of you who are new to Susie's Homemade, I have got a lot of ground to cover so, hold on tight:

  • Allow me to introduce myself; my name is Susan (a.k.a. Susie) Ewing. I am a thriving stay-at-home mom of two wonderful girls (7 and 20) and a caretaker of my 69 year old live-in mother. I started this blog to support my chocolate shop on Etsy.com but, it has become so much more.

  • Susie's Homemade is a place that I explore my adventures in homemaking, baking, cake decorating and gardening. This blog has lead to competitive baking which I absolutely love!! This year, I competed in the largest Iron Cupcake: Milwaukee challenge to date! I made a huge 6 foot display with 500 cupcakes! AND, I got to meet Duff Goldman from Ace of cakes!!

  • I have been doing a lot of spring cleaning with Simple Mom's Project Simplify and they are covering the frig and the pantry this week. I covered both of them:-)

Here is the before:

And here is the after:

  • I love stalkers. Check out my side-bar for the many ways you can stalk me in cyberspace! I really hope that you like what you see here and come back soon:-)

I hope that you have enjoyed your stop here at Susie's Homemade and I hope to see you back here soon:-) Party on!

Organized Linen Closet

I posted my disarray last week. Now, this is much better!

I even made a great table cloth hanging system out of an old drying rack!

Simple Mom's Project Simplify is covering kids toys/clothes this week. For us, my youngest's art supplies were a HUGE problem. So, we found this solution: Now, she has a place for all her markers and crayons and paper and jewelry making supplies and other art supplies. It is AWESOME!!

Spring Cleaning Part 2

For the second weekend in a row, the family worked on spring cleaning our house. This time, we did the bathrooms and the kitchen. That included appliances, walls, windows, cabinets, linens and floors. It took us a little bit longer (i.e. all Monday) to finish. Not bad. Here is an array of drawers I organized:

Organized Bedroom Closet

Spring Cleaning starts this weekend for our family! To that end, playing along with Simple Mom's Project Simplify and showing my organized bedroom closet.

Here is my before:

Unorganized Bedroom Closet

And my after:

Organized Bedroom Closet

My shoes were a mess, my purses need to be restuffed with tissue paper and I did carry out 3 bags of clothes to either give away or toss. So, I think it was successful. What do you think?

A Message to My Family

I hereby declare by this decree that the weekends dated March 12th and 13th and March 19th and 20th are reserved for spring cleaning for the wife/mother/caregiver, husband/father/capital provider, daughter and care receiver. This reservation will include but not be limited to washing walls, carpets, cabinets and organizing basement and storage areas and outdoor cleanup. Expect purging of unused and deteriorated items.

Participation by the wife/mother/caregiver, husband/father/capital provider, daughter and care receiver will be required. No social or medical emergencies should be submitted during this timeframe. Submitting either will result in the loss of peace of mind of the wife/mother/caregiver and subsequently, future requests by the husband/father/capital provider, daughter and care receiver will be delayed.

Cooperation in this decree will result in a healthier home for all involved and a happier wife/mother/caregiver thereby making future requests by the husband/father/capital provider, daughter and care receiver possible.

I am submitting this decree to Tackle It Tuesday with 5 Minutes for Mom !
